Hi, A couple of years ago I purchased a new 17" i7 Macbook Pro from a well-know Apple retailer. It was a 2011 model which I bought early in 2012. In June this year the graphics started to play up so I sent it off to be fixed by an Apple repairer (unfortunately I didn't take out Applecare which was an idiotic decision but anyway....) and now the problem has returned but more alarmingly, after googling, I've found a thread on the Apple Communities Forum which has had 2 million views and 9000 responses from people with the same (reportedly) overheating GPU problen on 15 and 17" 2011 models. Apple is completely failing to acknowledge the issue and I have no idea how to take this forward other than either forking out for a new motherboard (the first fix was a GPU 'reballing' which was half the price of a motherboard but clearly a false economy) or waiting to see if Apple will provide some kind of repair service at reduced cost. Any suggestions? Should I email Apple or the retailer? Any help will be apprecited. I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
